The encoded protein binds to N6-methyladenosine, a common modified RNA nucleotide that is enriched in the stop codons and 3' UTRs of eukaryotic messenger RNAs. Binding of proteins to this modified nucleotide may regulate mRNA translation and stability. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to pancreatic cancer in human patients, and knockdown of this gene resulted in reduced proliferation in a human liver cancer cell line. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2016]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Specifically recognizes and binds N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing RNAs affecting the translation efficiency and mRNA abundance of its targets (PubMed:26318451). Is required for proper spermatocyte development (By similarity). M6A is a modification present at internal sites of mRNAs and some non- coding RNAs and plays a role in the efficiency of mRNA splicing, processing and stability (PubMed:26318451). When associated with MEIOC, binds transcripts that regulate the mitotic cell cycle inhibiting progression into metaphase, thereby allowing meiotic prophase to proceed normally (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:B2RR83, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26318451}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |R3H| |Helicase C| |HA2| |DEAD| |OB NTP bind| |Ank 2| |YTH| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |germline cell cycle switching, mitotic to meiotic cell cycle| |cell cycle switching| |cell cycle switching, mitotic to meiotic cell cycle| |RNA-dependent ATPase activity| |positive regulation by host of viral genome replication| |N6-methyladenosine-containing RNA binding| |ribonucleoprotein granule| |modulation by host of viral genome replication| |positive regulation by host of viral process| |RNA polymerase binding| |3-5 RNA helicase activity| |positive regulation of meiotic cell cycle| |modulation by host of viral process| |positive regulation of viral genome replication| |oocyte development| |oocyte differentiation| |regulation of meiotic cell cycle| |positive regulation of viral life cycle| |modification by host of symbiont morphology or physiology| |interaction with symbiont| |positive regulation of reproductive process| |oogenesis| |regulation of viral genome replication| |positive regulation of viral process| |modification of morphology or physiology of other organism involved in symbiotic interaction| |female gamete generation| |regulation of viral life cycle| |spermatid development| |modification of morphology or physiology of other organism| |spermatid differentiation| |regulation of reproductive process| |response to interleukin-1| |regulation of viral process| |regulation of symbiosis, encompassing mutualism through parasitism| |meiotic cell cycle| |germ cell development| |response to tumor necrosis factor| |negative regulation of mitotic cell cycle| |cellular process involved in reproduction in multicellular organism| |positive regulation of cell cycle| |positive regulation of multi-organism process| |spermatogenesis| |male gamete generation| |negative regulation of cell cycle| |regulation of mitotic cell cycle| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |gamete generation| |regulation of multi-organism process| |symbiotic process| |interspecies interaction between organisms| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |multi-organism reproductive process| |cell cycle process| |endoplasmic reticulum| |response to cytokine| |regulation of cell cycle| |cell cycle| |RNA binding| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |ATP binding| |cell development| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |IWR1 50μM R08 exp495|-1.95| |Aphidicolin 0.04μM R06 exp263|-1.74| |Rifampicin 30μM R08 exp430|1.71| |Selumetinib 20μM R02 exp81|1.98| |BI-2536 0.0042μM R03 exp95|1.98| |Temozolomide 200μM R04 exp189|2.05| |SNS-032 15μM R08 exp443|2.1| |I-BRD9 4μM R07 exp365|2.18| |TNF-alpha 44ng/ml R08 exp533|2.43| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 10063 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 6.61 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='YTHDC2 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 6.61'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
