The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and is induced by ethanol, the diabetic state, and starvation. The enzyme metabolizes both endogenous substrates, such as ethanol, acetone, and acetal, as well as exogenous substrates including benzene, carbon tetrachloride, ethylene glycol, and nitrosamines which are premutagens found in cigarette smoke. Due to its many substrates, this enzyme may be involved in such varied processes as gluconeogenesis, hepatic cirrhosis, diabetes, and cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Metabolizes several precarcinogens, drugs, and solvents to reactive metabolites. Inactivates a number of drugs and xenobiotics and also bioactivates many xenobiotic substrates to their hepatotoxic or carcinogenic forms. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |p450| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |benzene metabolic process| |carbon tetrachloride metabolic process| |4-nitrophenol metabolic process| |4-nitrophenol 2-monooxygenase activity| |halogenated hydrocarbon metabolic process| |response to ozone| |monoterpenoid metabolic process| |lipid hydroxylation| |intrinsic component of endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, NAD(P)H as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |arachidonic acid epoxygenase activity| |epoxygenase P450 pathway| |benzene-containing compound metabolic process| |exogenous drug catabolic process| |long-chain fatty acid biosynthetic process| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |monooxygenase activity| |oxygen binding| |steroid hydroxylase activity| |Hsp90 protein binding| |Hsp70 protein binding| |arachidonic acid metabolic process| |triglyceride metabolic process| |phenol-containing compound metabolic process| |acylglycerol metabolic process| |neutral lipid metabolic process| |unsaturated fatty acid metabolic process| |icosanoid metabolic process| |long-chain fatty acid metabolic process| |fatty acid biosynthetic process| |oxidoreductase activity| |terpenoid metabolic process| |response to ethanol| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |heme binding| |drug catabolic process| |fatty acid derivative metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |response to reactive oxygen species| |lipid modification| |response to alcohol| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |carboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |response to antibiotic| |organic acid biosynthetic process| |fatty acid metabolic process| |response to acid chemical| |enzyme binding| |glycerolipid metabolic process| |response to oxidative stress| |mitochondrial inner membrane| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |response to toxic substance| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |response to inorganic substance| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |Golgi membrane| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |response to bacterium| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |response to organonitrogen compound| |oxoacid metabolic process| |response to drug| |organic acid metabolic process| |response to nitrogen compound| |lipid metabolic process| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |response to biotic stimulus| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |small molecule metabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 6157 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 0.31 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CYP2E1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 0.31'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
