DRAM2

Gene Information
  • Official Symbol: DRAM2
  • Official Name: DNA damage regulated autophagy modulator 2
  • Aliases and Previous Symbols: N/A
  • Entrez ID: 128338
  • UniProt: Q6UX65
  • Interactions: BioGRID
  • PubMed articles: Open PubMed
  • OMIM: Open OMIM
Function Summary
  • Entrez Summary: The protein encoded by this gene binds microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 and is required for autophagy. Defects in this gene are a cause of retinal dystrophy. In addition, two microRNAs (microRNA 125b-1 and microRNA 144) can bind to the mRNA of this gene and produce the disease state. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017].
  • UniProt Summary: Plays a role in the initiation of autophagy. In the retina, might be involved in the process of photoreceptor cells renewal and recycling to preserve visual function. Induces apoptotic cell death when coexpressed with DRAM1. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:19895784, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25983245}.
