Heparan sulfate biosynthetic enzymes are key components in generating a myriad of distinct heparan sulfate fine structures that carry out multiple biological activities. This enzyme is a type II integral membrane protein and is responsible for 6-O-sulfation of heparan sulfate. This enzyme does not share significant sequence similarity with other known sulfotransferases. A pseudogene located on chromosome 1 has been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: 6-O-sulfation enzyme which catalyzes the transfer of sulfate from 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS) to position 6 of the N-sulfoglucosamine residue (GlcNS) of heparan sulfate. Critical for normal neuronal development where it may play a role in neuron branching. May also play a role in limb development. May prefer iduronic acid. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:21700882}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Sulfotransfer 2| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |heparan sulfate 6-O-sulfotransferase activity| |heparan sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process, enzymatic modification| |labyrinthine layer blood vessel development| |heparan sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |placenta blood vessel development| |sulfotransferase activity| |heparan sulfate proteoglycan metabolic process| |lung alveolus development| |labyrinthine layer development| |proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |embryonic placenta development| |proteoglycan metabolic process| |glycosaminoglycan biosynthetic process| |aminoglycan biosynthetic process| |placenta development| |glycosaminoglycan metabolic process| |aminoglycan metabolic process| |lung development| |respiratory tube development| |respiratory system development| |angiogenesis| |glycoprotein biosynthetic process| |in utero embryonic development| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |blood vessel morphogenesis| |reproductive structure development| |reproductive system development| |embryonic organ development| |blood vessel development| |vasculature development| |cardiovascular system development| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |Golgi membrane| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |tube morphogenesis| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |neuron development| |tube development| |circulatory system development| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |embryo development| |neuron differentiation| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |integral component of plasma membrane| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |generation of neurons| |neurogenesis| |cell development| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:r:rrm1|RRM1]]|0.715| </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 3/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|1/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|1/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 5137 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 7.04 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='HS6ST1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 7.04'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
