This enzyme can also use myo-inositol-1,3-diphosphate, myo-inositol-1,4-diphosphate, scyllo-inositol-phosphate, glucose-1-phosphate, glucose-6-phosphate, fructose-1-phosphate, beta-glycerophosphate, and 2'-AMP as substrates. This enzyme shows magnesium-dependent phosphatase activity and is inhibited by therapeutic concentrations of lithium. Inhibition of inositol monophosphate hydroylosis and subsequent depletion of inositol for phosphatidylinositol synthesis may explain the anti-manic and anti-depressive effects of lithium administered to treat bipolar disorder. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. A pseudogene of this gene is also present on chromosome 8q21.13. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Responsible for the provision of inositol required for synthesis of phosphatidylinositol and polyphosphoinositides and has been implicated as the pharmacological target for lithium action in brain. Has broad substrate specificity and can use myo- inositol monophosphates, myo-inositol 1,3-diphosphate, myo- inositol 1,4-diphosphate, scyllo-inositol-phosphate, D-galactose 1-phosphate, glucose-1-phosphate, glucose-6-phosphate, fructose-1- phosphate, beta-glycerophosphate, and 2'-AMP as substrates. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17068342, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8718889, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9462881}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Inositol P| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |inositol monophosphate phosphatase activity| |lithium ion binding| |inositol monophosphate 1-phosphatase activity| |inositol monophosphate 4-phosphatase activity| |inositol biosynthetic process| |inositol monophosphate 3-phosphatase activity| |inositol metabolic process| |inositol phosphate dephosphorylation| |phosphorylated carbohydrate dephosphorylation| |inositol phosphate catabolic process| |polyol catabolic process| |phosphatidylinositol phosphorylation| |alcohol catabolic process| |inositol phosphate metabolic process| |polyol biosynthetic process| |cellular carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |manganese ion binding| |lipid phosphorylation| |organic hydroxy compound catabolic process| |phosphatidylinositol biosynthetic process| |polyol metabolic process| |alcohol biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |organophosphate catabolic process| |phosphatidylinositol metabolic process| |cellular carbohydrate metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound biosynthetic process| |lipid modification| |glycerophospholipid biosynthetic process| |magnesium ion binding| |glycerolipid biosynthetic process| |phospholipid biosynthetic process| |glycerophospholipid metabolic process| |dephosphorylation| |alcohol metabolic process| |phospholipid metabolic process| |glycerolipid metabolic process| |small molecule catabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |protein homodimerization activity| |organophosphate metabolic process| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |identical protein binding| |lipid metabolic process| |phosphorylation| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 19056 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 5.31 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='IMPA1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 5.31'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
