The protein encoded by this gene is one of the SSTRs, which is a multi-pass membrane protein and belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase, and different regions of this receptor molecule are required for the activation of different signaling pathways. A mutation in this gene results in somatostatin analog resistance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Receptor for somatostatin 28 and to a lesser extent for somatostatin-14. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. Increases cell growth inhibition activity of SSTR2 following heterodimerization. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12072395, ECO:0000269|PubMed:7908405, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8078491, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8373420}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |7tm 1| |7TM GPCR Srsx| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |somatostatin receptor signaling pathway| |somatostatin signaling pathway| |somatostatin receptor activity| |neuropeptide binding| |positive regulation of cytokinesis| |peptide binding| |cellular response to glucocorticoid stimulus| |cellular response to corticosteroid stimulus| |positive regulation of cell division| |regulation of cytokinesis| |neuropeptide signaling pathway| |response to glucocorticoid| |response to corticosteroid| |regulation of cell division| |hormone-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of insulin secretion| |glucose homeostasis| |carbohydrate homeostasis| |cellular response to steroid hormone stimulus| |regulation of peptide hormone secretion| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger| |regulation of hormone secretion| |positive regulation of cell cycle process| |response to steroid hormone| |positive regulation of cell cycle| |regulation of protein secretion| |regulation of peptide secretion| |cellular response to lipid| |regulation of hormone levels| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |negative regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of protein transport| |G protein-coupled receptor activity| |regulation of peptide transport| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of secretion by cell| |regulation of cell cycle process| |regulation of secretion| |response to lipid| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |regulation of protein localization| |chemical homeostasis| |regulation of cell cycle| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |integral component of plasma membrane| |response to endogenous stimulus| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |homeostatic process| |regulation of transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 10839 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -7.68 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='SSTR5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -7.68'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
