Members of this family are important during development. Aberrant expression of this gene is seen in medulloblastoma, a childhood brain tumor. This gene is closely linked to the gene encoding zinc finger protein of the cerebellum 4, a related family member on chromosome 3. This gene encodes a transcription factor that can bind and transactivate the apolipoprotein E gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Acts as a transcriptional activator. Involved in neurogenesis. Plays important roles in the early stage of organogenesis of the CNS, as well as during dorsal spinal cord development and maturation of the cerebellum. Involved in the spatial distribution of mossy fiber (MF) neurons within the pontine gray nucleus (PGN). Plays a role in the regulation of MF axon pathway choice. Promotes MF migration towards ipsilaterally- located cerebellar territories. May have a role in shear flow mechanotransduction in osteocytes. Retains nuclear GLI1 and GLI3 in the cytoplasm. Binds to the minimal GLI-consensus sequence 5'- TGGGTGGTC-3' (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P46684}. <button type='default' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> No Pfam Domain information is available for this gene. </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |adult walking behavior| |walking behavior| |positive regulation of protein import into nucleus| |positive regulation of protein import| |regulation of protein import into nucleus| |regulation of protein import| |positive regulation of nucleocytoplasmic transport| |positive regulation of protein localization to nucleus| |adult locomotory behavior| |regulation of smoothened signaling pathway| |inner ear morphogenesis| |regulation of nucleocytoplasmic transport| |spinal cord development| |regulation of protein localization to nucleus| |ear morphogenesis| |adult behavior| |positive regulation of intracellular protein transport| |inner ear development| |locomotory behavior| |positive regulation of intracellular transport| |ear development| |regulation of intracellular protein transport| |sensory organ morphogenesis| |embryonic organ morphogenesis| |RNA polymerase II regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding| |positive regulation of cellular protein localization| |regulation of intracellular transport| |positive regulation of protein transport| |embryonic organ development| |pattern specification process| |DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |positive regulation of establishment of protein localization| |RNA polymerase II proximal promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |regulation of cellular protein localization| |sensory organ development| |embryonic morphogenesis| |behavior| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |regulation of protein transport| |regulation of peptide transport| |brain development| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |head development| |regulation of cellular localization| |animal organ morphogenesis| |embryo development| |central nervous system development| |positive regulation of transport| |regulation of protein localization| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |regulation of transport| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |GW501516 25μM R06 exp285|-2.12| |All-trans-Retinoic-Acid 40μM R07 exp334|-1.84| |Cidofovir 10μM R07 exp345|-1.83| |KU-0063794 3.8μM R02 exp71|-1.81| |Centrinone 0.5μM R07 exp343|-1.78| |ML-792 0.2μM R08 exp505|-1.77| |Geldanamycin 0.01μM R05 exp235|2.83| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 18832 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 0.86 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='ZIC1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 0.86'> </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
