ACP6

Gene Information
  • Official Symbol: ACP6
  • Official Name: acid phosphatase 6, lysophosphatidic
  • Aliases and Previous Symbols: N/A
  • Entrez ID: 51205
  • UniProt: Q9NPH0
  • Interactions: BioGRID
  • PubMed articles: Open PubMed
  • OMIM: Open OMIM
Function Summary
  • Entrez Summary: This gene encodes a member of the histidine acid phosphatase protein family. The encoded protein hydrolyzes lysophosphatidic acid, which is involved in G protein-coupled receptor signaling, lipid raft modulation, and in balancing lipid composition within the cell. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016].
  • UniProt Summary: Hydrolyzes lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) containing a medium length fatty acid chain to the corresponding monoacylglycerol. Has highest activity with lysophosphatidic acid containing myristate (C14:0), monounsaturated oleate (C18:1) or palmitate (C16:0), and lower activity with C18:0 and C6:0 lysophosphatidic acid. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10506173, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23807634}.
