Deficiency of DCK is associated with resistance to antiviral and anticancer chemotherapeutic agents. Conversely, increased deoxycytidine kinase activity is associated with increased activation of these compounds to cytotoxic nucleoside triphosphate derivatives. DCK is clinically important because of its relationship to drug resistance and sensitivity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Required for the phosphorylation of the deoxyribonucleosides deoxycytidine (dC), deoxyguanosine (dG) and deoxyadenosine (dA). Has broad substrate specificity, and does not display selectivity based on the chirality of the substrate. It is also an essential enzyme for the phosphorylation of numerous nucleoside analogs widely employed as antiviral and chemotherapeutic agents. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18377927, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20614893}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |dNK| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |deoxycytidine kinase activity| |deoxynucleoside kinase activity| |deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound salvage| |pyrimidine nucleoside salvage| |deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate metabolic process| |purine-containing compound salvage| |pyrimidine nucleoside biosynthetic process| |nucleoside salvage| |cellular metabolic compound salvage| |pyrimidine nucleoside metabolic process| |nucleoside biosynthetic process| |glycosyl compound biosynthetic process| |nucleoside monophosphate biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound biosynthetic process| |drug binding| |pyrimidine nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside monophosphate metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound metabolic process| |nucleoside metabolic process| |glycosyl compound metabolic process| |purine-containing compound biosynthetic process| |nucleotide biosynthetic process| |nucleoside phosphate biosynthetic process| |purine-containing compound metabolic process| |nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside phosphate metabolic process| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |protein homodimerization activity| |organophosphate metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |phosphorylation| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |ATP binding| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Aphidicolin 0.4μM R08 exp440|-2.91| |CI-1040 9.5μM R08 exp472|-2.07| |IL-3 9ng/ml R08 exp493|-1.84| |Nicotinate 1000μM R03 exp140|1.72| |Lapatinib 5μM R01 exp47|1.73| |Methotrexate 0.01μM R08 exp501|1.77| |BI-6727 0.001μM R01 exp42|1.8| |5-Azacytidine 2μM R07 exp330|2.19| |FBS-Wisent 0.1 R07 exp426|6.45| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 17833 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 6.09 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='DCK Expression in NALM6 Cells: 6.09'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
