This member is a predominantly cytoplasmic protein, which plays a direct role in peroxisomal protein import and is required for PTS1 (peroxisomal targeting signal 1, a C-terminal tripeptide of the sequence ser-lys-leu) receptor activity. Mutations in this gene cause peroxisome biogenesis disorders of complementation group 4 and complementation group 6. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Involved in peroxisome biosynthesis. Required for stability of the PTS1 receptor. Anchored by PEX26 to peroxisome membranes, possibly to form heteromeric AAA ATPase complexes required for the import of proteins into peroxisomes. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |AAA| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |protein import into peroxisome matrix, translocation| |photoreceptor cell cilium| |protein import into peroxisome matrix| |peroxisomal membrane transport| |ATPase activity, coupled| |protein transmembrane import into intracellular organelle| |intracellular protein transmembrane transport| |peroxisomal membrane| |protein transmembrane transport| |photoreceptor outer segment| |establishment of protein localization to peroxisome| |protein localization to peroxisome| |protein targeting to peroxisome| |peroxisomal transport| |peroxisome organization| |peroxisome| |protein import| |protein stabilization| |protein C-terminus binding| |ATPase activity| |protein-containing complex binding| |regulation of protein stability| |protein targeting| |establishment of protein localization to organelle| |protein localization to organelle| |intracellular protein transport| |transmembrane transport| |ATP binding| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |UNC2400 2μM R03 exp156|-2.35| |Alpha-Amanitin 0.5μM R00 exp5|-2.18| |Bortezomib 0.05μM R00 exp7|-2.12| |Dynasore 10μM R04 exp180|-1.78| |Tubacin 1.6μM R07 exp416|-1.78| |Brefeldin A 0.02μM R00 exp8|-1.76| |Pimelic-diphenylamide-106 0.5μM R00 exp27|-1.72| |CFI-400945 25μM R08 exp469|1.73| |Amiloride 100μM R08 exp447|1.74| |SNS-032 15μM R08 exp443|1.81| |CI-1040 9.5μM R08 exp472|1.82| |Epigallocatechin gallate 20μM R05 exp230|2.07| |MK2206 4μM R08 exp504|2.11| |Fluvastatin 2.2μM R06 exp282|2.12| |Cerivastatin 0.15μM R05 exp226|3.26| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> ^Gene^Correlation^ |PEX12|0.55| |PEX1|0.538| |PEX7|0.516| |PEX13|0.512| |PEX14|0.481| |PEX2|0.479| |PEX10|0.473| |AGPS|0.445| |PEX26|0.435| |PEX5|0.407| |AGPAT1|0.402| </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 13/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|1/28| |blood|2/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|1/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|2/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|2/26| |pancreas|1/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 9050 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.58 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='PEX6 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.58'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
