Involved in a variety of CNS functions, such as sedation, NREM sleep and PGE2-induced allodynia, and may have an anti-apoptotic role in oligodendrocytes. Binds small non-substrate lipophilic molecules, including biliverdin, bilirubin, retinal, retinoic acid and thyroid hormone, and may act as a scavenger for harmful hydrophopic molecules and as a secretory retinoid and thyroid hormone transporter. Possibly involved in development and maintenance of the blood-brain, blood-retina, blood-aqueous humor and blood-testis barrier. It is likely to play important roles in both maturation and maintenance of the central nervous system and male reproductive system. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20667974, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9475419}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Lipocalin| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |prostaglandin-D synthase activity| |retinoid binding| |cyclooxygenase pathway| |regulation of circadian sleep/wake cycle, sleep| |prostaglandin biosynthetic process| |prostanoid biosynthetic process| |regulation of circadian sleep/wake cycle| |fatty acid binding| |prostaglandin metabolic process| |prostanoid metabolic process| |unsaturated fatty acid biosynthetic process| |icosanoid biosynthetic process| |arachidonic acid metabolic process| |rough endoplasmic reticulum| |regulation of behavior| |fatty acid derivative biosynthetic process| |unsaturated fatty acid metabolic process| |icosanoid metabolic process| |regulation of circadian rhythm| |long-chain fatty acid metabolic process| |fatty acid biosynthetic process| |fatty acid derivative metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |nuclear membrane| |carboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |organic acid biosynthetic process| |fatty acid metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |perinuclear region of cytoplasm| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |Golgi apparatus| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |extracellular space| |small molecule metabolic process| |extracellular region| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp72|LB-100 4.1μM R02 exp72]]|1.83| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 11538 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -1.34 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='PTGDS Expression in NALM6 Cells: -1.34'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
