S-arrestin, also known as S-antigen, is a major soluble photoreceptor protein that is involved in desensitization of the photoactivated transduction cascade. It is expressed in the retina and the pineal gland and inhibits coupling of rhodopsin to transducin in vitro. Additionally, S-arrestin is highly antigenic, and is capable of inducing experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Oguchi disease, a rare autosomal recessive form of night blindness. May play a role in preventing light-dependent degeneration of retinal photoreceptor cells (PubMed:9565049). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P08168, ECO:0000305|PubMed:9565049}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Arrestin C| |Arrestin N| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |opsin binding| |rhodopsin mediated signaling pathway| |G protein-coupled receptor internalization| |phototransduction, visible light| |desensitization of G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |negative adaptation of signaling pathway| |adaptation of signaling pathway| |regulation of rhodopsin mediated signaling pathway| |protein phosphatase inhibitor activity| |phosphoprotein binding| |phototransduction| |detection of visible light| |negative regulation of G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |photoreceptor inner segment| |detection of light stimulus| |negative regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity| |photoreceptor outer segment| |receptor internalization| |negative regulation of protein dephosphorylation| |G protein-coupled receptor binding| |receptor metabolic process| |negative regulation of phosphatase activity| |negative regulation of dephosphorylation| |cellular response to light stimulus| |regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity| |detection of external stimulus| |detection of abiotic stimulus| |regulation of protein dephosphorylation| |regulation of G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |cellular response to radiation| |regulation of phosphatase activity| |regulation of dephosphorylation| |receptor-mediated endocytosis| |response to light stimulus| |cellular response to environmental stimulus| |cellular response to abiotic stimulus| |response to radiation| |negative regulation of hydrolase activity| |endocytosis| |negative regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |negative regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein modification process| |import into cell| |detection of stimulus| |negative regulation of catalytic activity| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of molecular function| |response to abiotic stimulus| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of protein modification process| |vesicle-mediated transport| |membrane| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 12598 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.55 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='SAG Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.55'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
