Function Summary
- Entrez Summary: This gene encodes a member of the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger family of proteins. The encoded protein represses transcription of the aldolase A gene, which encodes a key enzyme in glycolysis. The encoded zinc-finger protein may also function as a transcriptional co-activator with Wilms' tumor protein 1 to regulate apoptotic genes in leukemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016].
- UniProt Summary: May be involved in transcriptional regulation as a transcriptional repressor. The DEPDC1A-ZNF224 complex may play a critical role in bladder carcinogenesis by repressing the transcription of the A20 gene, leading to transport of NF-KB protein into the nucleus, resulting in suppression of apoptosis of bladder cancer cells. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20587513}.
