Polymorphisms at this locus may be associated with variations in risperidone response in schizophrenic patients. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. UniProt Summary: Transfers sialic acid from the donor of substrate CMP- sialic acid to galactose containing acceptor substrates.
