TGM5

Gene Information
  • Official Symbol: TGM5
  • Official Name: transglutaminase 5
  • Aliases and Previous Symbols: N/A
  • Entrez ID: 9333
  • UniProt: O43548
  • Interactions: BioGRID
  • PubMed articles: Open PubMed
  • OMIM: Open OMIM
Function Summary
  • Entrez Summary: This gene encodes a member of the transglutaminase family. The encoded protein catalyzes formation of protein cross-links between glutamine and lysine residues, often resulting in stabilization of protein assemblies. This reaction is calcium dependent. Mutations in this gene have been associated with acral peeling skin syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009].
  • UniProt Summary: Catalyzes the cross-linking of proteins and the conjugation of polyamines to proteins. Contributes to the formation of the cornified cell envelope of keratinocytes.
